Description
Porsche 911 Carrera S in front of Brandenburg Gate, Berlin - Germany
The 911 traces its roots to sketches drawn by Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche in 1959. The Porsche 911 was developed as a more powerful, larger and a more comfortable replacement for the 356, the company's first model. The new car made its public debut at the 1963.
Ferdinand Porsche founded the car brand in 1931, with headquarters in Stuttgart. It is now owned by Volkswagen AG, which is itself majority-owned by Porsche Automobil Holding SE. The Porsche crest first appeared in late 1952 in the centre of the 356 Pre-A’s steering wheel.
Porsche's company logo was based on the coat of arms of the Free People's State of Württemberg of former Weimar Germany, which had Stuttgart as its capital.
