The Berlin Wall fell demolished in 1989: it marked the culmination of more than 40 years of the Cold War. The longer segment of the wall that was not demolished, a 1.3-km-long portion in the middle of Berlin, was turned in 1990 into the 'Berlin Wall East Side Exhibition,' the biggest open-air exhibition in the world. Approximately 106 works by artists from 22 countries filled the museum for independence.
It was turned into a national landmark in 1992. But, time and pollution, and more over, graffers, are acting, and 20 years after, the work is covered by thousands of street art. This section and the 'Berlyn' wall were designed by Gerhard Lahr.
